Lily was six years old, with bright blue eyes and curly brown hair that bounced as she ran through the meadows. She loved to explore the woods and fields near her home, picking wildflowers, chasing butterflies, and climbing the old oak trees. Emma was ten years old, and she was the kindest, smartest, and bravest sister anyone could ever wish for. She had long, golden hair that shone like the sun, and she always knew how to make Lily laugh, even on the gloomiest days. Emma was the person Lily looked up to most, and she followed her everywhere like a little shadow.
One sunny afternoon, the two sisters were playing by the river that flowed near their village. The water sparkled in the sunlight, and the girls laughed as they skipped stones across the surface. Emma showed Lily how to pick the smoothest stones, and soon Lily was making her stones hop and skip just like Emma's.
As they played, Lily noticed a beautiful butterfly fluttering by. Its wings were a dazzling mix of orange, yellow, and black, and it seemed to dance in the air. Lily gasped with delight and decided to follow the butterfly, hoping to catch a closer look. She ran after it, giggling as the butterfly led her away from the river and into the woods.
"Lily, wait!" Emma called after her, but Lily was too excited to listen. She dashed deeper into the forest, her eyes fixed on the butterfly. The trees grew thicker, and soon the sunlight was barely peeking through the leaves above. Lily didn't notice how far she had gone until the butterfly disappeared into the shadows.
Lily stopped and looked around. The forest was quiet and still, and she realized that she didn't know where she was. Her heart started to pound in her chest, and she felt a little scared. She called out for Emma, but there was no answer. The trees all looked the same, and Lily didn't know which way to go to find her sister.
Tears began to well up in Lily's eyes, but just as she was about to cry, she heard a familiar voice.
"Lily! Where are you?" Emma's voice called out, echoing through the trees.
Lily felt a wave of relief wash over her. "Emma! I'm here!" she shouted as loud as she could.
In a few moments, Emma appeared through the trees, running toward Lily with a worried look on her face. She knelt down and hugged Lily tightly.
"Lily, you scared me!" Emma said, her voice shaky. "You shouldn't run off like that. The woods can be tricky, and it's easy to get lost."
Lily sniffled and wiped her eyes. "I'm sorry, Emma. I just wanted to see the butterfly."
Emma smiled and brushed a curl away from Lily's face. "I know, butterflies are beautiful, but you have to be careful. Let's always stay together, okay?"
Lily nodded, feeling a little braver now that her sister was with her. "Okay, Emma. I'll stay with you."
Emma took Lily's hand, and they started to walk back through the forest together. As they walked, Emma began to tell Lily a story about a brave little girl who got lost in the woods but found her way home with the help of her big sister. Lily listened, her fears melting away as they made their way back to the river.
When they reached the edge of the forest, the sun was beginning to set, painting the sky with shades of pink and orange. The village was just a short walk away, and Lily felt safe and happy knowing that Emma was by her side.
As they walked home, Emma asked, "Lily, do you know why I love being your sister?"
Lily shook her head, curious. "Why, Emma?"
"Because being your sister means I get to protect you, teach you new things, and share all the adventures with you," Emma said with a warm smile. "But most of all, it means I get to be with you, and that makes me the happiest sister in the world."
Lily beamed up at her sister. "I'm the happiest too, Emma! I love being your little sister."

Lily learned to be more careful, and Emma always made sure to keep an eye on her little sister.
